GIS Training

These courses will teach you what a GIS is and what you can do with it. Working with various components of the ArcGIS platform and software, you will create GIS maps, explore and analyze the data behind the maps, and learn easy methods to share your maps and analysis results, working with different data types, geodatabases, mobile mapping and how to apply standard cartographic workflow to produce high-quality maps for both print and online use. By the end of the courses, you will have a solid understanding of how GIS maps and ArcGIS tools are used to visualize real-world features, discover patterns, obtain information, and communicate that information to others.

Remote Sensing Training

These courses introduce the principles of remote sensing for earth observation, remote sensing platforms and sensors, data acquisition, storage and processing. These are designed to give you a comprehensive understanding on the application of remote sensing and GIS in solving the research problems. By the end of the courses, you should be able to use remote sensing (Satellite images and Field data) and GIS in their future research work. Remote sensing is used in numerous fields, including geography, land surveying and most Earth science disciplines for multiple purposes like military, intelligence, commercial, economic, planning, and humanitarian applications, among others.

Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development

Current Project: Electricity for Rural Transformation for Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development

This project involves the collection of data using android devices (tablets) where information from installed meters in houses, is transferred to servers on a daily basis, involving 7 service providers like KISL, UMEME and others. The data collected includes the Name, Meter Number and Location and this will be used for budgeting purposes by the government and service providers.

China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC Uganda Limited)

Current Project: Tilting the Land Acquired at Buhuka Parish i Kikuube District for the Kingfisher Development Project for China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC Uganda Limited)

CNOOC Uganda Limited has implemented 3 distinct Resettlement Action Plans (RAPs) to acquire land in support of infrastructure such as the access roads, permanent camp, material/supply base, airstrip, Central Processing Facility, Well Pads, infield flow lines linking well pads to the CPF, buffers, Feeder pipeline to evacuate the crude oil from Buhuka to the delivery point at Kabaale, spoil areas and burrow pits, all of which are required for the project development. The assignment involves opening boundaries of registered land, mutating/subdividing titles and processing titles for the project components at Buhuka.
